Tyres are your vehicle’s first line of defence when it comes to safety on the road.
But do you know when it’s time to replace them?
Ignoring worn tyres can lead to poor handling, reduced fuel efficiency, and even dangerous blowouts. Here are the top signs that it’s time for a new set:
- Low Tread Depth
UK law requires a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm. If your tyres do not have this, we refer to them as ‘bald tyres’, this is a major sign that you need new ones! - Cracks, Bulges, or Blisters
Over time, tyres can develop cracks due to weathering pr develop bulges from impacts with postholes or curbs. These are warning signs of potential tyre failure. - Vibrations while driving
Unusual vibrations can mean your tyres are unevenly worn or damaged. They can also be a sign of suspension or alignment issues. - Loss of grip or longer braking distances
If your vehicle doesn’t handle like it used to – especially in wet conditions – it may be down to worn tyres.
Top Tip: Check your tyres at least once a month. Regular inspections could prevent accidents and save you money in the long run.
